| Obang Metho, Director of International Advocacy
Obang Metho is the director of the Gambella Development Agency and is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan. Prior to the
massacre of December, 2003, and the subsequent destabilization of the region, the GDA was working to help all the ethnic groups
in the Gambella region attain access to basic services such as health care, education, clean water, woman's empowerment and treatment
for HIV-AIDS. One significant project was a joint venture between the GDA and the College of Medicine of the University of Saskatchewan.
Mr. Metho has appeared before heads of state for many governments as he advocates for the Anuak.
Akuthi Okoth, Chairperson
Akuthi Okoth is a graduate of Augustine College with a degree in economics. She has been active in the Anuak community for over
ten years and has worked hard to bring the plight of the Anuak to the attention of the public and media. She was interviewed by
Cultural Survival and featured in their magazine. Since December, 2003, she has been actively advocating for a political solution
to restore peace, justice and security to the Gambella region. Ms. Okoth has testified before the Permanent Forum on Indigenous
Issues at the United Nations about the crimes against humanity perpetrated on the Anuak by the Ethiopian government and she is
the founder of the Anuak Women’s Association in the United States.
John Frankhauser, Treasurer
John Frankhauser is a professional classical singer. He has held leadership roles in several service and mission organizations
and served as a charter board member for Habitat for Humanity – Spokane.
